Dear Parents,
Welcome to a new school year! Your child will soon begin to check out books from the school library, so please read on and find out about library policy and procedures.
Students may checkout two to three books at a time, depending on grade level. When your child brings books home, spend time reading together. If your child can read, take the time to read together. We want your child to love reading!
There are no fines for overdue books (for Kinder-2nd) and a 5¢ a day fee (for 3rd- 6th), please encourage your child to return his/her books when due.
Sometimes accidents happen. If a library book is lost or damaged while checked out to your child, the book must be replaced. Books can be paid for by check made out to Loma Terrace Elementary or cash; correct amount is appreciated. Once the book is paid for your child’s account will be cleared and he/she may resume checking out books.
At home you can help your child by:
•Finding a safe place to keep his/her library books.
•Keeping library books away from little brothers/sisters and family pets.
•Reminding your child to have clean hands when handling library books.
•Teaching them to treat books with respect and turn pages gently.
•Encouraging your child to read for enjoyment.
•Having discussions about books being read.
•Make reading fun!
I look forward to a great year and many wonderful stories. If you have any questions or concerns about the library, please feel free to contact us at 434-2650.

¡Feliz lectura!
